Natural beauty tips from India

Indian women know the power of beauty and they also know quite a few secrets to looking gorgeous, that you might not. The best part of this is that a lot of their beauty rituals are centred around natural ingredients and don’t require you to spend hundreds of pounds. So, if you want awesome shiny hair and glowing skin, give these 10 tips a try.

1. Fix a bad tan naturally

Squeeze the juice of one lemon and mix it with a teaspoon of honey. Put this mixture on your face as a facemask and wait for 10 minutes then rinse off. Lemon has natural bleaching properties that will remove some of the tan, while honey will keep your skin moisturised.

2. Prevent hair thinning

One of the simplest things you can do for your hair is to change up the parting once in a while. When you keep your hair in the same parting for years, it starts to lie very flat. Also it’s the same hairs that are always first in line to be brushed and exposed to the sun.

3. Get rid of dandruff with lemon

Take some coconut oil and mix it with a teaspoon of lemon juice. Rub this mixture into the roots of your hair, take your time and give yourself a proper head massage. Leave it on for about an hour and then wash out. Your dandruff will be gone.

4. Get rid of unwanted hair with gram flour

Just mix some of it with water until it becomes a paste, put it on your face or any other area on your body that has unwanted hair and leave it to dry. Then just rub it off in circular motions.

5. Henna for a colour boost

If you have dark hair, using red henna will give your hair a bit of a red tone in the sun. You can use dark henna to hide your grey hair. As it’s a natural dye, not only will it not damage your hair, but it’ll actually make it look healthier and shinier.

6. Coconut oil for everything

Use it on your feet, knees and elbows to moisturise and soften the skin. It’s a great natural hair mask that will make your hair look way more silky and shiny. It also works well as a make-up remover.

7. Multani Mitti for awesome skin

Multani Mitti, also known as fuller’s earth, is the best way to tighten your pores, dry out pimples, cleanse your face and make your skin smooth. It’s great for oily or normal skin. However, if your skin is on the drier side, perhaps stay away from it.

8. Clear up acne with neem

If you suffer from acne, neem can really help you out. Making a paste out of the leaves and using it as a facemask on a daily basis is completely safe and a great alternative to chemical treatments.

9. Fade dark spots with turmeric

Turmeric is a staple of Indian cuisine, but did you know it can also be used outside of the kitchen? That’s right, turmeric can help you lighten dark spots, and it’s also awesome for lightening dark armpits. Just mix it with water, apply to the targeted area, leave on for 10 minutes and wash off.

10. Tea for your hair

If you’re blonde and want to brighten your hair, use a green tea rinse in the shower. For red hair, try hibiscus tea. Rosemary tea will make dark hair look more vibrant. And if you want to hide your greys and colour them dark, use sage tea.
