What a day out!
The ESTEEM team test their nerves on an exhilirating day out in the Yorkshire countryside. By IMOGEN GILL
Yorkshire Outdoors is one of the leading adventure providers in the UK, with over 25 years of providing exceptional service and 50 acres of purpose-built terrain to enjoy. It offers a range of activities to get stuck into, Such as the Shoot and Ride package (£149 per person) and The Triple (shoot, ride and drive package – £299 per person for an hour of each activity or £199 per person for half an hour of each activity).
It’s the perfect place for team building or just a get-together with friends. The establishment promises a truly unique experience and, from our visit, it is clear that customer satisfaction is paramount.
My initial nerves immediately faded away due to the warm welcome we received from the team and the refreshments offered upon arrival. We were then given the opportunity to try out the electric bikes and Segways, which was pretty cool considering that wasn’t part of our chosen package.
We began by getting behind the wheel of a Land Rover Defender for one of the most extreme off-road experiences in the UK. The 1-1 tuition we received from our instructor, Vince, was of an exceptional standard. He was extremely informative and patient throughout (especially when I caused chaos behind the wheel … numerous times). I was particularly impressed by the amount of time for which we were allowed to drive, spending around 15 minutes each pushing our abilities to the max. With most off-road experiences, the instructor takes up the majority of the activity demonstrating (boring!).
After spending an hour on the challenging course, my pulse was racing as we embarked on our next feat – clay pigeon shooting, where we spent another hour and got 25 shots each. What made the experience so good was the sheer passion that the instructor, Dave, had for the activity. It was my first time handling a gun. However, by the end, I felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment, thanks to Dave’s expert training and encouragement.
Last but certainly not least, we set off on the quad bikes (our favourite activity). We each had our own quad bike and received 1-1 tuition every step of the way. The course itself is an amazing experience with a good balance of rocky and steep adventurous trails. It was the perfect mix of exhilaration with a sense of danger. After conquering the course, I felt like I could take on the world. A visit to Yorkshire Outdoors is a must for any thrill-seeker or group of friends looking for an action-packed challenge that’s certain to warrant a post-adventure pint.
